Celler Joan Simo

Celler Joan Simo is a Spanish winery from the Catalan wine region- Priorat. The terroir bears great history and heritage in winemaking. It was in 1194 when Carthusian monks first founded the vineyards. Nowadays Joan Simo continues his family’s legacy and in these old vineyards he cultivates Garnatxa, Samsó, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah to make good quality Spanish wines. Celler Joan Simo wines are deeply coloured and complex with savoury flavours and good minerality inherited from the terroir.

Catalonia

Catalonia Wines

Catalonia is a very important wine region in Spain. Compared to other wine regions in Spain, Catalonia is very different because there is a strong French influence. Thus, Spanish wines from Catalonia are highly regarded because of the Champagne-style sparkling wine Cava and its red table wines. While the red wines are mainly made from Tempranillo, Garnacha and Monastrell grapes, for cava the catalan winemakers use exclusively Macabeo, Parellada, Xarel-lo and Chardonnay varieties.

Cabernet Sauvignon Wines

Indigenous to Bordeaux, Cabernet Sauvignon is the most famous black skinned grape variety in the world. In fact it is the product of a natural genetic crossing between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. Besides its fame in Bordeaux, Cabernet Sauvignon wines are highly regarded in the New World wine regions especially in California, Chile and South Australia. Undoubtedly the finest Cabernet Sauvignon wines are found in Bordeaux and California, a viewpoint supported by the 1976 Judgment of Paris.
