Glera Wines

Glera is generally renowned for being the official Prosecco grape in Italy. It is a green-skinned variety that has been grown in Veneto and Friuli for hundreds of years. The Prosecco-Glera name changed in 2009 when it was decided that "Prosecco" should be exclusively reserved to sparkling wines from Italy's official Prosecco appellation. Italian wines produced from Glera are generally either frizzante or spumante (sparkling). There is also a very small amount of still wine made from Glera.
