Macabeo Wines

Macabeo, also known as Viura in Rioja is a white wine grape variety from Spain that spreads all the way to Languedoc-Roussillon in France. This versatile grape is used for sparkling, sweet and dry white wines. It is mostly recognised as one of the key grape varieties in sparkling Cava wines alongside Parellada and Xarel-lo. Macabeo wines are usually fresh and floral when fresh and will reveal honey and nutty notes when aged. The grape is popular in Valencia, Yecla and Jumilla.
