2016 Marques de la Concordia Cava Brut Reserva Rose
Bottle (75 cl - Standard)
Marques de la Concordia is a winery from the famous Rioja wine region in Spain built where once an old sugar factory used to be. The region allows Marques de la Concordia to cultivate a great range of variety but the most popular and loved variety is still Tempranillo. The oldest vines were planted in 1929 and wine maturation takes place in French oak barrels.
Catalonia Wines
Catalonia is a very important wine region in Spain. Compared to other wine regions in Spain, Catalonia is very different because there is a strong French influence. Thus, Spanish wines from Catalonia are highly regarded because of the Champagne-style sparkling wine Cava and its red table wines. While the red wines are mainly made from Tempranillo, Garnacha and Monastrell grapes, for cava the catalan winemakers use exclusively Macabeo, Parellada, Xarel-lo and Chardonnay varieties.
Mourvedre (Monastrell) Wines
Mourvedre is a black-skinned grape variety from Spain and also intensely cultivated in southern France, California and South Australia. Mourvedre wines are meaty with herby aromas and strong tannins which make them perfect to be matched with Syrah and Grenache in the famous GSM wines from Rhone Valley. In Spain the variety is known as Monastrell and stands alongside Tempranillo and Garnacha. In Australia and California, Mourvedre wines are very rich and more fruit-forward.
