Mataro Wines

Mataro is actually Mourvedre and it is a black-skinned grape variety originating in Spain and also intensely cultivated in southern France, California and Australia. These wines are meaty with herby aromas and strong tannins which make them perfect to be matched with Syrah and Grenache in the famous GSM wines from Rhone Valley. In Spain the variety is known as Monastrell and stands alongside Tempranillo and Garnacha. In Australia and California, Mataro wines are very rich and fruit-forward.
