Petrus is one of the most famous wineries in the world. Located in Pomerol wine region- Bordeaux, the Merlot focused winery dates back to 1837 and became very famous in 1962 when the Moeuix family bought half of it. Petrus wines are renowned for being the most collectable and expensive wines in the world. They are rich and powerful with chocolate flavours, spices and black fruit.

Bordeaux Wines

It's hard not to associate Bordeaux with fine wine. For centuries Bordeaux has built its fame and prestige as a wine region of excellence. Great chateaux lie on both banks of the river Gironde, as a result of what Bordeaux wines have achieved. The main grape varieties for Bordeaux classic reds are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot complemented by Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc that produce great white wines.

Merlot Wines

Merlot is an iconic red grape variety from Bordeaux, France. It is predominantly present in red wines from the iconic wine regions of Saint-Émilion and Pomerol, both from Bordeaux. Besides being a great calming companion for Cabernet Sauvignon in the renowned Bordeaux blends, Merlot stands besides other French wine varieties such as Tannat (in Cotes de Gascogne), Malbec (in Cahors) and sometimes Petit Verdot. In Tuscany, Merlot sometimes stands beside Sangiovese.
