Sousão Wines

Sousão or Vinhão is a dark-skinned grape variety from the Iberian Peninsula, predominantly in Minho and Douro in Portugal and it is used to create deeply coloured red wines because of the grape’s strong pigmentation. Because of its good acidity and high potential alcohol Sousão is included in the composition of wines destined for fortification or extensive aging. Sousão also produces the great majority of red Vinho Verde wines and it is also cultivated in Galicia in Spain.
