Marlborough focuses more on white wines, Sauvignon Blanc being without any doubt the heart and soul of this wine region. It is followed by Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Riesling. Marlborough has also become an important sparkling wine producer, using the Méthode Traditionnelle (Champenoise) and grape varieties such as Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
