Tannat Wines

Tannat is a red wine grape variety from The Basque country, on the border between France and Spain. French Tannat is characterized by firm tannins, deep dark colour, high alcohol and great aging potential. Tannat wines have encountered great succes in South America, especially in Uruguay (where Tannat is regarded as the national grape) and Chile. The variety usually appears in blends alongside varieties such as Malbec, Carmenere or Shiraz.
