Tinta Barroca Wines

Tinta Barroca is one of the most popular red variety grapes in Douro Valley-Portugal. It is mostly used in Port wines because of its high level of sugar and high potential alcohol. In fact, Tinta Barroca is the third most cultivated variety in Douro the first to being Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo). Besides Portugal, tinta Barroca flourishes in South Africa’s Western Cape wine region. Here alongside Pinotage variety is used to make Port-style fortified wines.
