Muscat of Alexandria Wines

Muscat of Alexandria also known as Moscatel de Setubal is an ancient wine grape variety originating from the great city of Alexandria in Egypt. Good quality wines from Muscat of Alexandria are made in Australia, Sicily, Spain and of course Setúbal in Portugal. The majority of the wines made using this grape variety are either sweet or fortified. The sole exception is Tunisia, where Muscat of Alexandria is used in dry wines. In the meantime California uses it mostly in blends.
