Spain is a winemaking colossus with a long and rich viticultural history. Its many climates and diverse range of terroirs gave Spain a great advantage over its top competitors, France and Italy, in terms of style, vine variety and cultivated surface. Spanish wine producers, especially those from Rioja, Rueda and Ribera del Duero are famous for their spectacular red wines made from Tempranillo.
