Setúbal Wines

Setúbal is a famous wine region from the Setúbal Peninsula in southern Portugal. It is best known for its fortified wines made exclusively from Moscatel grapes. Moscatel de Setúbal wines, like almost all sweet fortified wines, are made by employing pure grape brandy to stop fermentation and then are added in wooden barrels to age. For extra flavour Setubal winemakers also add the leftover Moscatel grape skins to the mix and allow them to macerate with the wine for as long as six months.
