Verdejo

Verdejo is a white wine grape variety from Rueda in central Spain. It is the most cultivated grape variety in the country and is usually found in blends alongside Viura or Sauvignon Blanc grapes. Generally speaking Verdejo wines are showing herbaceous, nutty flavours, great balance and a little aging potential. As a rule, a true Rueda DO white wines must include 50% Verdejo or Sauvignon Blanc. The variety’s origins are not very clear but some say it originates from Castilla y Leon.
