2018 Georges Vigouroux Chenin de Mercues
Bottle (75 cl - Standard)
“Black wine” has been running through Vigouroux family’s veins for four generations. They are regarded as France’s specialists in Malbec red wines. Located in Cahors, since 1887 their passion for Malbec has driven them all the way to Argentina and the Mendoza vineyard in search of a terroir or grape variety symbiosis. Cahors vineyard is considered to be one of the oldest in Europe and nowadays Georges Vigouroux renovated the château to restore it to its former glory.
Cahors Wines
Cahors is a wine region in France located 160 km east of Bordeaux. Cahors is renowned for its deeply colored red wines made predominantly from Malbec (known locally as both Côt and Auxerrois). However, small quantities of Tannat and Merlot are produced here as well of similar quality. As a defining characteristic, Cahors red wine is darkly colored and has a meaty, herb-tinged aroma with hints of spiced black cherries and a whiff of cedar. If that doesn't make your taste buds crave for a sip maybe Cahors wines are too much for you.
Chenin Blanc Wines
Chenin Blanc is a versatile white wine variety cultivated in France for almost 1300 years. Chenin Blanc is mostly associated with Loire Valley and can be vinified in several different wine styles: lusciously sweet dessert wines, gentle honeyed sparkling wines or as a full-bodied dry white wine. Most of the Loire's significant Chenin Blanc regions are around the cities of Angers and Touraine. Outside of France Chenin Blanc has found a second home in the vineyards of South Africa.
