Tasmania Wines

Tasmania is the 'Island State' of the 'Island Continent', and the most southerly state and wine region of Australia. Tasmanian wine list is mostly dominated by Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Also it is very popular for its sparkling wines made through the traditional method (Méthode Traditionnelle) thus mirroring the prestigious French sparkling champagne. In general Tasmania's choice of grape varieties is closer to those of New Zealand than Australia, reflecting the cool maritime climate.
