It all started in 2009 when Stephen Cronk together with his family moved from London to Provence to create the best rosé wines in the region and so he did. In its 2000 hectares of vineyards, Mirabeau creates fresh and elegant rosé wines with flavours dominated by red fruits and citrus. Among the grape varieties used to create these fabulous rosés the most important are Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault, Caladoc and Collombard.
Provence is a wine region in France mostly known for its rosé wines, which account for more than half of the production of Provençal wine. Wine has been made here for over 2600 years, making Provence the oldest wine producing region of France. Amongst the grape varieties in Provence we mention: Marsanne, Roussanne si Grenache Blanc, Ghrenache Noir, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan, Cinsault, Counoise, Tannat and Cabernet Sauvignon. But enough about facts and details, let's open some rosé!
Grenache (Garnacha) Wines
Grenache (Garnacha) is a black-skinned French grape variety extensively cultivated in France, Spain, Australia and the United States. In France, Grenache is widely planted in Rhone Valley followed by Provence and Languedoc-Roussillon. We will most commonly find it alongside Syrah and Mourvedre to create the classic Southern Rhone GSM wines. Meanwhile in Spain, Garnacha is the second most planted red wine grape variety, surpassed only by Tempranillo.
